The flag of Pohnpei is a rectangular flag with a red background and a white star in the center. The red color symbolizes the blood of the island's ancestors, while the white star represents the four municipalities of the island - Kitti, Madolenihmw, Sokehs, and Uh. The star is also a nod to the island's historic use of star navigation, which played a significant role in Pohnpeian culture. The flag was adopted on November 21, 1980, and is one of four state flags of the Federated States of Micronesia.
